Conflict Resolution Services
Small Claims Mediation
The program provides mediation services as an alternative to small claims court, if desired by both parties. Mediation reduces the burden on our courts and spares parties time and expense. Mediation can help restore and enhance the relationships which hold together families and communities. Typical problems that are suitable for mediation would include: property damage, neighborhod issues, customer/merchant disputes, and landlord/tenant disagreements.
Victim/Offender Mediation
Juvenile offenders and victims have the opportunity to come together to discuss the incident and work out restitution. Cases are referred by diversion programs and probation officers. Victims and/or offenders may contact the center directly to utilize the services.
Family Mediation
Mediation services are available to assist families in solving a wide range of disputes, including conflicts between Parents and Teens and Marital/Divorce Mediation. Mediation is not counseling, but can be used in addition to counseling. Mediators are neutral, do not judge, nor tell you what to do, but can help families develop agreements around many issues important to parents, teens, spouses, and schools. Courts and local attorneys have referred clients for the property settlement portion of the divorce proceedings, but a referral is not necessary to utilize the program.
Conflict Resolution in Schools
Areas of special interest and committment include youth violence prevention and asset development. Staff will work collaboratively with school and youth serving agencies on one-time events, after school programs, or other projects targeting youth and families.
Workplace Conflicts
The program provides conflict resolution services for disputes among employees, employers, facilitation services, training in problem solving and communication techniques. Employees or employers are welcome to inquire about these services.
Other Conflicts and/or Mediation Areas
